Cookie Layer:

  • 1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup (100g) brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/4 cups (156g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (175g) chocolate chips

How to Make Chewy Chocolate Chip Brookies

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×9-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. For the brownie layer:
    • Mix melted butter and sugar in a bowl.
    • Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla.
    • Stir in cocoa powder, flour, and salt until just combined.
    • Spread evenly in the prepared pan.
  3. For the cookie layer:
    • Cream softened butter with both sugars until light and fluffy.
    • Beat in egg and vanilla.
    • Mix in flour, baking soda, and salt until just combined.
    • Fold in chocolate chips.
    • Drop spoonfuls of cookie dough over the brownie layer and spread gently.
