  • 1 box (15.25 oz) vanilla or funfetti cake mix
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup rainbow sprinkles (plus extra for topping
For the frosting:
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Extra rainbow sprinkles for decorating
 

Instructions

  1. Prep: Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a 9×13 inch baking pan with parchment paper and lightly grease.
  2. Make batter: In a large bowl, mix cake mix, oil, eggs, and milk until just combined. Don’t overmix. Gently fold in 1/2 cup sprinkles.
  3. Bake: Spread batter evenly in prepared pan. Bake 25-30 minutes until a toothpick inserted in center comes out with just a few moist crumbs.
  4. Cool: Let cool completely in pan (about 1 hour).
  5. Make frosting: Beat softened butter until fluffy. Gradually add powdered sugar, then milk, vanilla, and salt. Beat until smooth and spreadable.
  6. Finish: Spread frosting over cooled bars. Top with extra sprinkles. Cut into 24 squares.
