For the bars:
- 1 box (15.25 oz) vanilla or funfetti cake mix
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/2 cup rainbow sprinkles (plus extra for topping
For the frosting:
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, softened
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Extra rainbow sprinkles for decorating
Instructions
- Prep: Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a 9×13 inch baking pan with parchment paper and lightly grease.
- Make batter: In a large bowl, mix cake mix, oil, eggs, and milk until just combined. Don’t overmix. Gently fold in 1/2 cup sprinkles.
- Bake: Spread batter evenly in prepared pan. Bake 25-30 minutes until a toothpick inserted in center comes out with just a few moist crumbs.
- Cool: Let cool completely in pan (about 1 hour).
- Make frosting: Beat softened butter until fluffy. Gradually add powdered sugar, then milk, vanilla, and salt. Beat until smooth and spreadable.
- Finish: Spread frosting over cooled bars. Top with extra sprinkles. Cut into 24 squares.
