Brownie Layer:
- 1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup (42g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup (63g) all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Cookie Layer:
- 1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter, softened
- 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup (100g) brown sugar, packed
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/4 cups (156g) all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup (175g) chocolate chips
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×9-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
2. For the brownie layer:
◦Mix melted butter and sugar in a bowl.
◦Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla.
◦Stir in cocoa powder, flour, and salt until just combined.
◦Spread evenly in the prepared pan.
3. For the cookie layer:
◦Cream softened butter with both sugars until light and fluffy.
◦Beat in egg and vanilla.
◦Mix in flour, baking soda, and salt until just combined.
◦Fold in chocolate chips.
◦Drop spoonfuls of cookie dough over the brownie layer and spread gently.
4. Bake for 30-35 minutes until the cookie top is golden and a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
5. Cool completely before cutting into squares.
